Consumer Courts in India

Consumer Court is a special purpose court in India that deals with cases regarding consumer disputes, conflicts and grievances. They are judiciary hearings set up by the government to protect the consumers' rights. Its main function is to maintain the fair practices & contracts by sellers.

List of Consumer Courts in India There are three types of Consumer Courts:
1. District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (DCDRF) is a district-level court. It deals with cases valuing up to INR 20 lakh.
2. State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC) is a state-level court.
3. National Consumer Redressal Commission -Section 21 of Consumer Protection Act, 1986 posits that the National Consumer shall have jurisdiction:- to entertain a complaint valued more than one crore and also have Appellate and Revisional jurisdiction from the orders of State Commissions or the District fora as the case may be. Section 23 of Consumer Protection Act, 1986, provides that any person aggrieved by an order of NCDRC, may prefer an Appeal against such order to Supreme Court of India within a period of 30 days.
